I’m so dizzy… I’m madly in love with my spiralizer

FullSizeRender (71)

My head’s in a spin – I’ve taken the plunge and bought a spiralizer. And it’s transformed my tea times.

I was never a big fan of pasta to start with, so when I converted my diet and became a full-time veggie and wheat and dairy-free clean eater, I didn’t feel the need to find a suitable pasta replacement for spaghetti.

However, my interest was piqued as my taste buds changed and I started trying to make each meal as colourful as possible. And I was curious as to what all the fuss was about with these contraptions – and whether they lived up to the hype.

Originally a Japanese invention, the spiralizer is a razor-sharp cutting device that creates thin ribbons of vegetable.

There are many different brands that have many different ways to spiralize but I went with the one that works like a pencil sharpener (see below for product information).

Now I enjoy rainbow veg noodles heated through with fresh red chilli, honey and coriander. I’ve found that courgette is the easiest to work with and carrots take a little more wrist strength!

The only downside is trying to clean the damn thing without lacerating your fingertips. So if anyone has any handy hints on this, please let me know.
