I was gutted when my doctor told me I had to go gluten free 3½ years ago. I imagined a lifetime of miserable meals ahead of me. But I’ve wised up since – and so have more shops, takeaways and restaurants. So these days there is very little I need to miss out on…

I loved Scotch eggs and had to go cold turkey for a few years. But now I can easily get my mitts on them at M&S or from Gluten Freekz.

I loved burgers and I can still love burgers as the gluten-free options at handmade burger co are just fab.

I was hooked on calamari and have not yet found that, exactly, but the Pho fried baby squid at Trinity Kitchen in Leeds is the perfect alternative.

After being glutened, I had been scared to order Indian takeaways. So I just thank my lucky stars for Thali Café in Bristol. What a brilliant discovery. My top dish is Rajasthani Lamb Thali.
