I am my own worst enemy. After 37 years of living with food allergies, I still can’t seem to say no when dining out.
Why is it when I eat out, I seem to give myself permission to treat myself to a piece of crusty wheat bread or gooey dairy goat’s cheese?
My inner devil says, “It’s only a little bit, a one off. It won’t hurt you.”
But it always does.

Over the past three years, I’ve taken the bold step to eliminate wheat and dairy from my daily diet and have got some amazing physical rewards (allergy rashes gone, healthier hair, skin and body) and cognitive results (my mind is clearer and more focused).
But the devil inside seems to want to give me a free pass when eating out in a restaurant.
I don’t even have an excuse as so many restaurants and cafes have a gluten-free or vegan option these days. So if my brain kicked in before my mouth opened, I wouldn’t be in this mess.
As wheat and dairy are such a huge part of your average meal, it is hard to eliminate them. But I must be strong and let my inner angel speak so I can stand up for myself and protect my body.
So from here on in, wheat and dairy are now considered class As in my household… and I must learn to say no!
